Dr. D. Masthan, born in a village in Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, showed a strong dedication to education from an early age. After completing his SSLC, he pursued his pre-University studies at Vivekananda College, Chennai, followed by a BSc in Zoology at The New College, Chennai. Graduating from STANLEY MEDICAL COLLEGE with an MBBS degree, he embarked on a distinguished medical career marked by a deep commitment to serving society.
Recognized for his profound social contributions, Dr. Masthan was appointed to the Rajya Sabha, where he actively participated in committees on Science & Technology, Health, External Affairs, among others, showcasing his multifaceted expertise. Additionally, he served on the Hindi Official Language Committee and the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Wakf Affairs, reflecting his commitment to diverse national issues. Concurrently, Dr. Masthan also served on the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board, further highlighting his extensive involvement in public service and governance.
HIs contributions extend beyond politics; he was also recognized as the Secretary of the Minorities Welfare Wing of the DMK Party. A dedicated social activist, he continuously strives for the causes of socially depressed people, aiming to establish social justice and impart education and awareness on privileges and heritage. Presently, he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Minorities Commission, further solidifying his commitment to advocating for equality and rights.
Dr. Masthan was widely recognized for his deep and dedicated social services, leading to his nomination as a Member to the Rajya Sabha.
